Friday Salon?

(The books that you will be hearing about in the next several weeks)

I was going to begin doing The Sunday Salon, but on Sunday I won't be around. Plus, nothing will change since I do not plan on reading this weekend.
So here is my first unofficial Sunday Salon Post!

I started A Tree Grows in Brooklyn a few days ago and I am enjoying it immensely. I have a good feeling that this will become one of my favorite books. I've already read the portion that I need to for Rory's Book Club (http://www.rorysbookclub.proboards55.com/index.cgi) but I am still reading it. I could incorporate it into my senior project if I wanted to, but I am not. This is my only planned pleasure reading this month.

I've also just begun The Devil Wears Prada for my project. I can already see the difference between the book and the movie...oops. I watched the movie before even knowing there was a book version of it!

I've come across two short story anthologies that may prove useful for my senior project, This is Chick Lit and This is Not Chick Lit. After I get back from my little weekend getaway, I will start either one.

But, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn totally has me hooked. I should be reading for school, but I am loving this!

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is one of the books that I really want to read. I have heard much good about it.

Have fun with your chick lit project. I read The Devil Wears Prada some years ago, before the movie, and I was practically the only one who actually liked the book in a group I was in back then. All others hated it. It should be interesting to hear what you have to say about it, although you know the main plot from the movie of course :-)

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn is on my list to read very soon. I am trying to hit some more classic young adult books this year.

I read The Devil Wears Prada after seeing the movie and I enjoyed both of them very much.
