Sunday Salon

Great, Just great. The Sunday Salon reminded me that I have been in a reading funk for over a week now. I have not finished any books. I have not sat down to read a book for more than ten minutes without getting bored.
My TBR list is getting longer every day, but no items are getting crossed off the list. I want to read, I really do, but everything bores me.
This lack of reading has made me very bored in general. Since a lot of my times is spent reading and I am not reading any more, I am spending more time watching TV, on the computer, listening to music. But, now those things are boring too. What to do?
I think this is the worst case of book boredome I have ever had. Usually every couple of months I will go a week without reading books just because I don't feel like it. I haven't gone this long since before I started reading seriously.
I think today I may force myself to read for an hour. Only after that will I allow myself to watch superbowl commercials. No, I won't actually watch the game, even though my team is in the superbowl! Right now, reading is more important. :P

Here's what I do when I'm in a funke: I read about fifteen, twenty pages in a whole bunch of books, and only keep reading if I'm completely grabbed by it. That usually works, although it might take a day or two. :)

Don't worry about your funk. I get in them quite often. Sometimes I am just too fatigued to put in the mental effort required to read something more challenging than a comic strip. :P Perhaps you need to do something you don't normally do, whether that is going for a brisk walk in the park, cooking some comfort food for dinner, or just watching Super Bowl commercials. Sometimes just switching up the dullness of day-to-day routines can help kick-start you. And pick up a book that you have been really excited about reading. That could help, also. Best of luck! :)

Here's my trick: I pick up something that is a very quick read, like a children's book or a graphic novel.

Hope you slip out of your slump.
