Booking through Thursday

How about, “What’s the worst ‘best’ book you’ve ever read — the one everyone says is so great, but you can’t figure out why?”

Hands down The Lord of the Flies.

I had to read it in 10th grade and my teacher had us take quizzes every few chapters that were graded by another student. Then, you'd say your score so she could record it in her gradebook.

I kept on failing these quizzes. After a while she asked,

"You really don't like this book, do you Sarah?"

"Nope."

I still read the whole thing. I can't say A Tale of Two Cities or The Scarlet Letter were bad because I stopped reading them!

Awww, is that Rory at the top of your blog??? My daughters and I watch that show religiously. And miss it (except for the terrible final season, lol).

I had to read Lord of the Flies in high school and hated it then. I would not read it again.

I read Lord of the Flies in Hs too and didn't think it was great but it wasn't really bad either. Give Tale of two Cities another try in a few years, you might be surprised.

My BTT is here

I was also not a fan of Lord of the Flies! First of all, it was disturbing. Seriously! And just really seemed like a "guy book," though I'm hesitant to admit that. haha :)

And I love the fact that Rory is in your header image! Just had to point that out :) I miss "Gilmore Girls" so much! Such a great show!

I've seen the movie and liked it and have had the book on my tbr for a long time but I don't really expect I will like it, that's why I keep postponing it :)

I had to read Lord of the Flies in 10th grade as well. It was okay then, but as a grew older I appreciated it a lot more. Same thing happened with A Brave New World.

I did not like Lord of the Flies in HS. Read it last year (30 years later) and still thought it was strange.
